Experience

Michael studied at the TU Darmstadt in Germany and at the TH Delft in the Netherlands and holds a degree in Architecture and Urban Design.

After graduating he joined Foster and Partners to work on the Commerzbank building in Frankfurt, Europe’s now second tallest office tower and a pioneer project in sustainable architecture. Following the completion of the Bank he worked on a variety of projects including Dresden Train Station, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Her Majesty’s Treasury in Whitehall, London and Foster’s competition entry for the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris.

Michael joined Formation Architects (then Halpern) in June 2002 and led the design of many of the practices major housing and mixed-use projects.

Most recently he has been the Director in charge of the design and delivery of Skanska’s award winning Seven Acres project in Great Kneighton, Cambridge. Current projects include the conversion of the Lots Road Power Station in Chelsea to 262 high- end flats, a 231 key hotel and a 14ha mixed use masterplan in Cambridge and range of projects in London.

Michael is a member of the Islington Design Panel, the Hackney Design Panel and the South Cambridgeshire Design Enabling Panel.
