5-6 Connaught Place is Redrow’s first residential development in Westminster. This project provides seven luxury apartments across two connected listed buildings over seven floors. The development area is 2,306m² (24,821 sq ft) and consists of two duplexes at ground floor and basement levels and five further large lateral apartments above. Formation Architects acted as lead and heritage consultants, and worked on the interiors closely with designers 1508 London.
The buildings were previously used as offices for Cadbury Schweppes and command magnificent views across Hyde Park. The internal shell is a modern concrete frame installed in the 1980’s with retained facades and a modern lower ground floor extension to the boundary wall with Bayswater Road.
Formation Architects’ appointment was to gain Planning Permission and Listed Building consent for change of use, as well as to co-ordinate the detail design, tender and construction information for the conversion to residential. Extensive restoration of the rear facades, verandas and roofs form part of the external works as well as new openings for stair cases and mezzanine floors.
