In early 2010 the Craft Potters Association asked Formation Architects to prepare designs for the refurbishment of a large ground and basement shop unit in Great Russell Street, opposite the British Museum in Bloomsbury, to form a new gallery and offices for the organisation. The design creates an open gallery at the main level for the display and sale of members’ work. The bespoke cabinets were designed in conjunction with a lighting designer to display various types of ceramic work to the best advantage. To the rear of the ground floor is a more flexible space for changing exhibitions. At basement level are the production offices of the Ceramic Review magazine and other support facilities for the organisation.
