Formation Architects have designed a 39-unit residential scheme located in The London Borough of Croydon on behalf of Vfund Purley Ltd, Regent Land & Developments Ltd and RAA Ventures Ltd. The scheme successfully achieved planning December 2019.
Councillors praised the high-quality design and considered the additional 39 residential units a welcome contribution to the local housing stock.
31.5% of the flats will be affordable and 56% are family units.
The scheme has been developed together with a master plan over the last 18 months and has included in depth consultation and input from the local community and key local stakeholders through councillor meetings, discussions with local organisations and residents’ associations, and a public consultation.
John Gulston from Regent Land & Developments Ltd says:
“Development of the site presents the opportunity to provide a scheme which will deliver much needed affordable and family size homes to meet local needs and demand, including higher affordable housing provision. The scheme also makes a positive contribution to the public realm and responds appropriately to its local context.”
Marco Tomasi, Associate Director at Formation Architects says:
“The masterplan and the architectural language have been developed to have a relationship to its surrounding context. The buildings step down at the north and the south to respect and relate to the neighbouring properties. Massing includes horizontal banding in the form of soldier course bricks which run throughout the building.”
