Formation Architects have designed a 59-unit residential scheme located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, located on the site of the former Police Station, for London Square Developments. The scheme successfully achieved planning on 15th October 2019.
The site is within the West Greenwich Conservation Area and is in close proximity to various listed buildings, the most prominent being the former Town Hall complex directly opposite the site, which is Grade II listed.
The scheme has been developed over the last 17 months and has included in depth consultation and input from the local community, various discussions were held with Historic England, the Greenwich Society, as well as the Conservation Officer for the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Michael Richter, Director at Formation Architects says:
“The architectural language of the new building draws on that of the adjacent listed Former Greenwich Town Hall. This establishes a relationship to define the junction and the key views around the junction. The scheme’s layout and materiality has been developed and designed to complement the adjacent properties, both in form as well as in the location of the function of the new building.”
