Seminar at the NLA – “Getting the Best out of D&B”

Design and Build now accounts for the large majority of construction in the UK. And yet if you ask people in the construction industry, everyone has a horror story about D&B…!

There seems to be a multiplicity of different ways of ‘doing’ D&B and too often a downright misunderstanding of how it should work. As architects, we have seen D&B up close in all its manifestations. As a result, we have strong opinions about how to get the best out of this important procurement technique. Essentially, we believe that, done properly, it’s perfectly possible to achieve good results through the D&B route – providing everyone understands their respective roles and the documents are correctly drawn up.

Over the last year or so, we’ve been discussing some of these issues with other consultants and contractors to gauge their opinions. And we’ve been bowled over by the strength of feeling that this seems to raise…!

So we decided to hold a seminar to provoke a discussion about this important issue.

The seminar is to be held at the NLA (New London Architecture) Centre on Wednesday 24th October, from 9am – 10.30am.

We’ve put together a cracking line-up of speakers including:

Chair – Lilly Gallafent at Cast Consultancy

  • Andrew Barraclough, Group Design Director at Wates Group
  • John Boxall, Partner at Jackson Coles
  • Ben Derbyshire, RIBA President
  • Roger Madelin CBE, Head of Canada Water Development at British Land
  • Richard Cook, Head of Residential at Lendlease
  • Tim Quick, Director at Formation Architects
