Position in Practice: Director
Tim Quick graduated from Newcastle University with First Class Honours. After working in various practices in London and the US he landed at Foster Associates where he spent 12 frenetic years working on a wide variety of projects including art galleries, libraries, sports stadiums, schools, bridges and private houses. For several years he worked for Fosters in France on high profile projects including the Médiathèque in Nîmes and the Viaduc de Millau. The last major project that Tim led at Fosters was the £60m conversion of the Treasury Building in Whitehall, London.
Tim joined Formation Architects in 2001 as a director and has since designed and led many of the practice’s most important projects working at all stages of the process from design through to construction. Most of this work has been in London and the South East and has been concentrated in the commercial office, mixed-use and large scale residential sectors. He has also been instrumental in the restructuring of the practice over the last decade.
As an architect, Tim’s interests lie in how contemporary buildings can make a positive contribution to existing cities – particularly where the urban fabric already has its own inherent character and sense of place. He has taught in various architecture schools in the UK and France and is a member of both the Southwark Design Review Panel and the Wandsworth Design Review Panel.
