Since graduating from the University of Sheffield Clare has gained over 20 years of experience working at all project stages, primarily on residential schemes, from inception through to completion. During these years she has been involved in delivering a broad range of project sizes, from single houses to large mixed-use developments.
Clare has been project architect on numerous residential schemes across Central London and further afield, working with various Housing Associations and developers to provide much needed high-quality housing, often in challenging urban locations. Clare’s involvement in these projects has helped to inform her approach to design, with an emphasis on simplicity of materials and composition, paired with a strong technical understanding and expertise in all relevant housing standards. The creation of buildings, which are contemporary, sympathetic to their environment and of a design that has longevity are at the core of what Clare values as good architecture. An understanding of the end user and how they will occupy a space also plays a key role in Clare’s response to the design and delivery process.
Since joining Formation Architects in 2018 Clare’s focus has been primarily on residential buildings at the design and planning stage, bringing her previous experience of both design and delivery to the team. Most notably, she has been designing schemes and preparing planning applications for projects including Woolwich Central in Greenwich for Meyer Homes, 7 Cross Lane and 19-25 Rotherhithe New Road, both for Regent Land and Developments.
