After graduating from the University of East London (Part II), Vimal gained valuable design and construction experience for five years before qualifying as an Architect in 2015.
In that time Vimal worked for the international practice Llewelyn Davies Yeang followed by Conran + Partners. He gained a wide range of experience by working on design projects; that included designing affordable to prime housing, office refurbishments, Olympic Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health and two mixed-used residential towers (25 & 48 storeys) within the Nine Elms Masterplan in London. Most notably, he was project lead for a winning competition - the concept masterplan and terminal design of Algiers International Airport.
Vimal has also gained construction experience with projects like Milkwood Road Apartments, the Olympic Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health and the conversion of two Grade II listed mansions in central London into 14 one, two & three bedroom apartments including £3m penthouse suite.
Since joining Formation Architects, Vimal has been responsible for developing many early design stage schemes focused mainly in the Cambridgeshire area. He was also the lead in the design of many hotels along with an office in Cambridge and continues to transition these into the tender stages. Currently, Vimal is an Associate and has been working in a Design Manager role on construction projects including contract administration for Stages 5 & 6 around London, in addition to an expanding Hotel design sector.
Vimal’s wide range of construction and design experience informs his projects and gives a more detailed level of assurance to the buildability of the early-stage schemes he works on which follows through to the late stages of work. He also works with colleagues from around the office to improve office standards and codes of practice in a Design Manager capacity, also being a key member of the Corporate Social Responsibility group that Formation Architects are involved in.
