Formation Architects have designed and submitted for planning approval a new build housing scheme to the London Borough of Southwark Council on behalf of Regent Land & Developments.

The scheme is predominantly residential with a flexible commercial unit at ground floor and will replace a single storey car wash and barber shop.

We are proud to submit this high-quality scheme for planning with Formation Architects. The scheme has been developed over the last 9 months and has included consultation and input from the local community, the Local Authority and broader interest groups. On this basis the scheme provides a positive contribution to the area that will meet the needs of the local community and the future needs of the area’.

Michael Richter, Director at Formation Architects says ‘The building will not only deliver much needed housing but add a sense of joy to this junction. The design is an interplay with the beautiful Plane Trees which line the site. The horizontal emphasis and gentle curves will provide a counterpoint to the rectilinear appearance of the neighbouring housing estates whilst the footprint re-establishes historic street edges. The material palette references the context with an emphasis on lighter tones and is kept to a minimum to achieve a simple and legible building.’
