The site has been identified for redevelopment given its close proximity to the town centre, easy access to the public transport network and the site falls under the Area of Potential Intensification. Maximising the potential of this accessible site aids the fulfilment of housing requirements set out in the Local Plan.
The scheme comprises one building with varying heights from 3 to 6 storeys, the architectural design has considered the scale and nature of adjacent buildings, with the building stepping down in height and form to respect the buildings around the site. There is ample communal amenity space at ground level and on an accessible roof terrace which includes children’s play space.
Traditional and robust materials are used with simple details due to the articulated building form. Bay windows are present in all the apartments to ensure high quality living whilst reflecting existing buildings found in the vicinity. The double height entrance is located along Brighton Road, designed to create some presence and activation along this key thoroughfare in the area.
The scheme is currently in planning.
