Located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and the Royal Hospital Conservation area, the bold design was highly praised by the borough’s design and conservation officers with the application approved under delegated powers without a single objection raised.
Currently, the rear elevation of the listed terrace is a somewhat disjointed series of extensions and adaptions which detract from the surviving heritage significance of this designated asset. The new extension, clad in polished black Corian, creates a modern and light-filled kitchen area with an enlarged terrace and landscaping by Emily Erlam design.
The scheme also includes a considered and refined redesign of the interior, visually aligning it to the rear terrace, whilst also re-introducing original features and exquisite details currently lost.
Work is expected to start on site in January 2022.
