Changes to regulations and other planning issues meant that it was necessary to revisit many aspects of the design including revisions to the original consent. The ultimate client was Clarion Housing Group and the interiors have been tailored to meet their specific requirements with a mixture of homes for rent, shared ownership and private sale.
The planning authority demanded a façade design and materials of high quality for this part of Westminster with different treatments on all of the four principal elevations. The scheme is currently under construction.
This 1.95-hectare site in Charlton is currently occupied by a large, single storey industrial building and surrounded by small-scale terraced residential streets. the local authority and the GLA have accepted that the site is suitable for a high-density residential scheme, providing the design is to a high standard.
