The new building replaced a tired 1930s bungalow with a distinct modern design. Initial resistance to a modern design from locals and planners was overcome through extensive negotiation and Planning Permission was eventually granted unanimously by the committee.

Bedrooms are located on the lower level opening directly onto the terrace around the swimming pool. A studio office sits perched at the top of the house, clad in timber and providing a contrast of material and form with the rest of the building.

The design makes the most of the sloping site with living accommodation on the upper level entered from the road, enjoying glorious views over the garden and the river beyond.
